Meet our friend Nap

Updated: Jul 11, 2021

Ladies, gentlemen...

And all you others out there not sitting on a fancy cushion!

Meet N.A. Porcupine, he goes by Nap, the mascot of the #OregonGoldRush that is the Set Oregon Free campaign. Why does he go by Nap? Because it rolls off the tongue easier than North American Porcupine.

N.A. Porcupine

Nap is a blue collar turned white collar entrepreneur. He got his start as a choke setter. He cuts his own firewood and does own a woodchipper, which he maintains religiously.

He's peaceful, not harmless, as all porcupines are, and knows that the safety and security of society resides with the individual. He is a conservationist and believes that the purpose of the free market is to provide for sustainable development of natural resource management.

He wears a tie, as you can see (but if you want to see the entirety, you'll have to wait), and he says it keeps him from spilling things on his fur, but he still doesn't know how he got so many ties...

Nap also spends time with his hobbies. He is an adrenaline junkie; if it goes fast, goes boom, or otherwise scares the crap out of you, he loves it. He does avoid animal sports for the obvious prickly response other animals give him. If you ask him if he plays MW2, he'll tell you that he hasn't played it since his Win98 machine died in 2006 and laugh at you when you look confused about the response and retort, "Real gamers played MechWarrior 2 on PC in wireframe."

If he had a favorite super hero, it would be Wolverine, Deadpool, or Eddie Brock/Venom because he believes in the live and let live concept and his favorite phrase is, "Don't tread on anyone." He also identifies with the Malcom Reynolds character in Firefly, but feels more like River Tam with current events. Don't get him started on John Wick.

He did say he was looking forward to the activities this campaign will be participating in. Look for him when you join us. See the website for details.
